Six-bay workplace charging
Six workplace charging bays installed without upgrading the site supply.
What we found and did
A logistics operator was moving six vans to electric over two years and wanted every vehicle charged overnight. Running six chargers at full output would have required a substantial supply upgrade. The vans spend eleven hours at the yard each night, so they did not need to charge at full power all at once.
We started with a load assessment using the site's metering data. Demand peaked in the afternoon and dropped before the vans returned at 7 pm, leaving enough spare capacity overnight. Load management shares that capacity across all six bays without exceeding the site supply. We also laid ducting for two future bays while the trench was open.
The result
All six vans are charged by morning without a supply upgrade. Avoiding that upgrade more than covered the cost of load management. The ducting is already in place for two more bays, making the next stage about a day's work.
